Optus considers Outsourcing to save cost

Optus, the second largest telecommunication firm in Australia has decided to outsource some of its back office jobs related to financial and accounting operations to offshore locations. This step will witness job cuts at all level in the organizations as jobs move offshore.

Although the final decision as to vendors and suppliers are yet to be taken, sources close to the organization mentioned that both Accenture and Infosys are bidding to take over the running of Optus’s back office services. The Australian telecom expert envisages on working in detail the roles and processes that will be outsourced.
Optus apart from planning to save cost and improve efficiency is keen on utilizing advanced data analytics techniques to deliver seamless services to its clients. The offshore outsourcing deal also plans to augment its finance and HR functions and provide better service to all its customers. In its initial report, Optus mentioned that it was not planning to lay off its employees but is thinking of redeployment opportunities.
