Mobiles to replace desk phones by 2020

The communication sector will visualize a big change with the growth of unified communication (UC).This in turn will lead to mobiles replacing desk phones by 2020. BroadSoft, (a communication software provider) conducted a survey which highlighted the fact that by 2020, one in every three business houses will replace desk phones for mobiles.

The study which covered 129 service providers, reports that more than half of all communication will be via mobiles in a few years time. The nucleus of all communication by 2020 will be through OTT (over-the-top content) which means transmittal of audio, video, and other media messages over the internet.

T he surveys further reveals that one out of every 10 companies (with less than 100 employees) employ cloud UC currently. This number will record a growth of 48% by 2020. Large enterprises (with more than 1000 employees) will also feature similar growth patterns. UCaas /hosted PBX have been voted by 90% of the people surveyed as the technology in vogue.
