Microsoft Selfie app.

Mobile selfie apps have increased in popularity in the current years as developers aim at enhancing the features of the apps devoted to creating the “ideal selfie”. Microsoft, known to be a pioneer in the development of latest software technologies, launched its own free selfie app appropriately known as “Microsoft Selfie” on December 30th, 2015.
This app which only supports iPhone, iPad and iPod users claims to have “generated more than 500,000 downloads within its first two weeks of launching” according to a report by Microsoft. The number of initial downloads might have been substantial but will the demand eventually fade out in the coming months that is a question that remains to be answered.

The research firm Gartner predicts that video selfies would be more popular than static photographic images by the year 2017. Even though, Microsoft did include several advanced features like easy social sharing via Apple iOS and Digital Face Clean that removes facial lines and folds but enhances the final picture in its latest Selfie app update, including video capabilities would have secured its popularity in the coming years.
