Microsoft’s desire to become a leader in the mobile applications sector became a reality after it purchased London-based Swift Key. This acquisition will give Microsoft an edge over others and make it easier for mobile application users. Microsoft will also get an added advantage in virtual reality as the technology provided by Swift Key can predict a customer’s behavior.

Swift Key’s technology is not just overly flashy but helps reduce the time needed by users to enter text and emails making them more useful. Three hundred million iOS and android consumers are using this technology.

Harry Shum, Microsoft’s executive vice-president of technology and research mentioned in a post that Swift Key’s technology is in line with Microsoft’s vision to recreate new products and enhance its deliverables to become market leaders in the mobile segment. Swift Key will play a major role in augmenting Microsoft’s Cortana. It will also help in leveraging other Microsoft products.
