Microsoft announced about its latest acquisition of Xamarin, to concentrate on mobile apps development. Xamarin is an organisation which works on cross-platform mobile application development. It will also help design mobile apps using C# for both Android and iOS users utilising a singular code base.

This acquisition will consolidate Microsoft’s position in the software segment. Microsoft and Xamarin are partners since 2013 and they will collaborate with mobile apps developers to build a cross-platform Office suite employing Microsoft’s Visual Studio. This acquisition will further lead to the development of windows 10 apps using Microsoft C#. Xamarin has been consolidated with Microsoft Azure,Office 365 and the Enterprise Mobility Suite to provide a complete range of solution to developers to help build apps for different platforms.

Microsoft’s vision of becoming pioneers in the field of mobile application has received the much needed boost by this acquisition. It also aims to have about 1 billion Windows 10 devices in the market by 2017 thus increasing the momentum.
