Business Analytics to Penetrate Healthcare

Advanced analytics has penetrated the Healthcare industry in a big way. Increase in the volume of data, Affordable Care Act (ACA) and constant use of electronic health records (EHRs) is driving this trend. The traditional structure of IT performing analytics and generating reports is fast changing with the focus shifting to the end users like physicians and nurses.

‘Vantage’, an operational analytics platform built by Providence Health (healthcare provider in the USA), helped save hundreds of cancer patients by screening them regularly for colorectal, breast and cervical cancer. Other healthcare providers like Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina and Mount Sinai Health System has also jumped into the analytics bandwagon.
