Avnet and IBM join hands to develop Internet of Things solution

Avnet and IBM have entered into allegiance to develop a spectrum of solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT) for the distributor’s lineup of OEMs. Avnet’s Government Solutions also plans to integrate the complete range of IBM’s full suite of SaaS-based security solutions and offer it to its channel partners.

According to Gartner, the Internet of Things market in 2016 will reach $235 billion in services depending on the 6.4 billion devices connected worldwide. Avnet aims to leverage this surge in the IoT sector for its channel partners. Avnet envisages providing a variety of resources and tools to support the IoT solution which includes Iot development platforms, access to Avnet datacenter and cloud solutions based on IBM Watson IoT Platform.

Avnet Cloud Marketplace which includes IBM Cloud infrastructure, IBM SaaS solution related to cloud analytics will be offered to IoT solution providers as a part of the deal. This partnership will enhance the IoT capabilities of the channel partners in North America and Europe.
