At the Computex trade show in Taipei, Asus launched a talking robot called Zenbo. Priced at the US $599, it can be used as a personal assistant. The robot can take care of elderly people and even read stories to kids in the house.
Asus’s robot, Zenbo, is about two feet high and moves around on four wheels. It also has a display which can either show its animated face or can be used for video calling and streaming movies. John Shih, the Chairman of Asus at a press conference demonstrated how Zenbo can communicate and do small tasks like taking pictures.
Asus also pointed out that Zenbo can take care of an aging relative by bridging the digital divide between generations. A small household can be easily looked after by the robot like switching off lights, play interactive games and even show videos. However, technical details about the robot are yet to be provided by the company.
