Airbus Group SE, a pioneer in manufacturing aircraft in France envisages increasing its global presence by outsourcing to China by the opening of a construction and delivery centre for the Airbus A330 in Tianjin. This is of great importance as it is the first unit to assemble and complete delivery of twin- aisle aircraft outside Europe for Airbus.
Collaboration was initiated between Airbus, The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and Tianjin Free Trade Zone (TJFTZ) for the opening up of a C&DC centre in China. Activities like cabin installation, aircraft painting, flight testing, aircraft delivery and customer flight acceptance will be handled in this centre. After the completion of the A330 Family aircraft in China, the final assembling will take place at Toulouse.
This alliance is in line with the predictions that air traffic in China will register a rise by 6.8% in the global market because of factors like a positive economy coupled with an increase in outbound tourism. Moreover, about 1240 aircraft in the Airbus fleet function with Chinese operators.
