Advantages and Disadvantages of Outsourcing in the Hotel Industry

Outsourcing in the hotel industry is the next big thing. Although, outsourcing scenarios differ from country to country, but subcontracting to third parties for housekeeping, laundry, IT/Cyber Security and spas are fairly common and in vogue.

Martin Kubler, CEO of Iconsulthotels points out that in the hospitality industry outsourcing is highly acceptable with UAE and especially Dubai leading the trend in a big way. Outsourcing is a preferred option as with seasonal fluctuations in the occupancy level, maintaining a huge service staff is not cost effective. Moreover, in the technical area where expensive equipment and trained professionals are required, outsourcing remains the best way out.

According to Mark Allaf of the Hilton Garden Inn Al Mina, a supporter of outsourcing, alliances with leaders of the industry is a boon and it helps bolster the standard of output. Lack of choice to provide quality outsourced services is still one of the biggest hindrances faced by the hospitality sector in the Middle East.
