Last year in the month of December, Microsoft announced their plans for the Cortana Skills Kit and Devices software development kit and according to the tech giant officials the Skills Kit will be designed for developers who want to build new features for Cortana on Windows, Android, iOS, Xbox, and Cortana-powered devices.

The all new Cortana Skills Kit empowers the developers to use their services and bots created with the Microsoft Bot Framework and further publish it to the Cortana as a new skill. The developers who will be using this development kit can also repurpose the code from the existing Alexa skills.

In one of the most exciting additions, Microsoft will also bring in LUIS (Language Understanding Intelligent Service) which will allow applications to communicate with the user in the way they actually speak. For those who are building the Cortona skills, other speech-related Microsoft Cognitive Services like the Custom Speech Service and the Speaker Recognition interfaces will also act as an interesting addition.
