Donald Trump in his election campaign highlighted the need to get the jobs back to the United States from offshore locations where the US companies outsource work to remain competitive with a special emphasis on China and Mexico. A few days back the Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton also talked about visa reforms. Among this humdrum, there is a section who are acknowledging the fact that outsourcing is a two-way traffic. Recently an Indian automaker has moved his manufacturing unit to the US and has outsourced a part of the assembly line to a company in Arkansas. This is in contrast to what the US politician are harping on.
The other side of the coin suggests that many American companies that are outsourcing their work to offshore locations are doing so in order to overcome stiff competition in their home market. The entire market may lose out if outsourcing is stopped.
