Carnival corp. is envisaging on outsourcing about 200 IT jobs to its partner Capgemini, a global technology, consulting and outsourcing organization. The 200 employees have also been offered jobs in Capgemini for a minimum duration of 6 months. The employees will become a part of Capgemini during this tenure. The concerned employees have been given the freedom to look for jobs outside.
This decision comes at a time when president-elect Trump is planning to change policies and bring in new legislations related to offshore outsourcing. According to CBS4 News in Miami, the impacted workers will engage in knowledge transfer activities which amount to providing training to their replacements in India and other South Asian countries.
However Carnival corp. maintains that this decision is in line with their vision to help the organization to evolve into a company with technical attributes. The jobs that Carnival plans to outsource are mostly from IT operations, maintenance and support departments.
