Apple launches CareKit

Apple introduces a new healthcare application , CareKit, for  developers who use GitHub and for consumers through four updated applications. CareKit is developed to help consumers to be in control of their own health by assimilating information from everyone’s data.

The four applications developed for consumers comprise of iodine, One drop, Glow Nurture, and Glow Baby. One drop which can be freely downloaded from the iOS App Store is a diabetes management platform which will help track an individual’s blood glucose level, daily activity, and share data with their family. The information can also be shared with health care practitioners. Glow Nurture helps women track their pregnancy whereas Glow Baby help in all the aspects of baby care. Iodine identifies the right medicine for individuals.

Apple explained that it had been motivated by the success of ResearchKit and HealthKit which helps physicians and researchers generate medical observation fast and also on a big scale. In this digital era of open information, CareKit will allow users to see and comprehend their data acting on insights available from a large community of contributors. The IoT has made this kind of tracking easily accessible for individuals.
