After graduating from the University of North Carolina, Alan obtained a Quality Engineer’s certification and completed GE’s Financial Management Program. His cross-functional background includes information technology, finance and quality positions across diverse industries. Alan has a track record of changing the status quo. As GE’s International CIO he pioneered remote software development creating the world's largest dedicated offshore development operation with 18,500 engineers in India, China and Mexico. The operation continues to save the company more than $1 billion annually. Alan delivered another $150 million productivity by being the 1st Fortune 50 company to e-auction its global telecom spend. As the CIO for the Equipment Services division, Alan helped unwind the portfolio. At GE Healthcare his team hosted customer-facing services from 7 global data centers and connectivity to imaging devices in over 28,000 customer locations. At Oil & Gas Alan drove the IT spend down to 1% of sales while developing a revenue generating remote monitoring solution and deploying ERPs in places like Qatar and Algeria. And he was recognized by CIO magazine in 2010 as a top Information Technology innovator. As CIO for GE’s Consumer Products Division, Alan replaced over 600 (70%) of the custom-built legacy platforms leveraging lean manufacturing concepts like Agile, Gemba and Andon. This innovative approach cuts time-to-value in half and mitigates business risk. In 2014 Alan was brought in to lead GE’s organization that provides shared IT services to more than 4,000 sites in 160 countries with an annual operating budget of $1.4 billion. In less than a year he restructured the organization, upgraded obsolete environments and fixed the financial issues.
