Unum Group plans to outsource IT services

The employees of the Unum Group are apprehensive that their employer may shift work related to the IT services to an offshore outsourcing firm. Unum Group which is based in Chattanooga in Tennessee had posted nearly $11 billion in revenue last year.

The labor attorney from Florida, Sara Blackwell, mentioned about the offshore outsourcing strategies of the Unum Group.She further claimed that hundreds of IT workers are facing the risk of either losing their jobs or made to be employed with an IT service contractor. An employee of the Unum Group endorsed this fact and cited concern for the outsourcing deal.

Mary Clarke Guenther, a spokeswoman for the Unum Group, mentioned that cost is not the only reason for seeking an external partner. Organizations also look for serving their customers in a better way to leverage long-term growth, increase in efficiency, and in the process delivering quality outputs. The company further added that no decision regarding an offshore outsourcing partner is yet to be taken.
