‘Cloud consumption as a service’ is a software, launched by CISCO to keep vigil and collect information about network traffic inside an organization. It will help the IT department to gather knowledge of any illegal cloud services operating inside the company premises.

CCaas is an important tool in the hands of the IT department of an organization. Apart from keeping an eye on the cloud services that are being used, it also helps to track the employees using them and for what duration. This software also allows the setting up of an alarm to detect any unusual activities. Priced at $1 to $2 per employee, it can gather traffic log information using NetFlow from any of the network gateways.

Tracking the usage of cloud services is not a new concept. There is an emergence of Cloud Access Security Brokers who act as barriers between cloud service providers and end users. The flow of data can be monitored and security breaches can be addressed if circumstances so demand. CCaas is an engine in the hands of the IT to count the number of people using cloud service and also to make sure that customer data is protected.
