Twitter launched its latest strategy: stickers on Monday, to get likes from its users and investors. The ‘stickers’ unveiled by Twitter will not automatically show up as is the practice for standard emojis. It can only be added to photos during the photo-editing stage before sharing. Stickers, however,are not available if images are shared via direct message. The stickers that are initially offered by Twitter are the standard Unicode emojis. Twitter’s sticker will act like visual hashtags and can be used to organize tweets and posts around a given topic.
Twitter wants to stay in competition with other social networking sites like Facebook Messenger, WhattsApp who have already incorporated virtual cartoons into messages. Apple Inc also announced to include stickers to iMessages in the upcoming iOS 10 to be launched later this year. Jack Dorsey; the co-founder of Twitter is also under pressure to introduce some innovations to attract more visitors. The changes will definitely attract new audiences or advertisers.
