Penn Mutual organizes the Penn Mutual National Championship

Penn Mutual, a premier insurance company had organized the Penn Mutual National Championship tournament, in the first week of June this year. Rugby teams from colleges across the US participated in this tournament. The Penn Mutual National Championship tournament was started in 2010 to promote rugby. After a gap of ninety-two years, rugby will be played in the Summer Olympics to be held in Rio De Janeiro this year.

The Penn Mutual National Championship tournament is held at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester were rugby teams from various colleges across America will participate. The rugby teams battled it out in front of thousands of enthusiastic fans who endlessly cheered them along. The winner receives the Pete Dawkins trophy. The trophy is named after Heisman Trophy winner from West Point’s football team who went on to become a Rhodes Scholar simultaneously excelling on the rugby field. The three-time defending champion of the tournament is the University of California.
