According to KIMT report, later this month a protest has been organized over the company’s decision to outsource the food service vendor by a union representing the workers in front of Saint Mary’s hospital campus at Rochester, Minnesota.

Service Employees International Union (SEIU) claims that Mayo didn’t provide them with the information on why and when they made the decision to switch the vendor from Sodexo to Morrison Healthcare for food and nutrition services.

SEIU President, Jamie Gulley has said “It is unacceptable that Mayo continues to deny basic information workers and their union need to know about this decision,” according to KIMT. “This information is especially important as now it seems the decision may have been made under the cloud of dubious ethics. Workers, and the whole community, deserve to know what really went on to bring Mayo to the point where they decided to take 700 dedicated employees and move them out of the Mayo family.”

Food service workers have presented Mayo with a petition which the union asserted that it was signed by more than 95% of the workers. The petition is regarding the organization to reconsider the decision over the outsourcing.
